Urgewave
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Urgewave handles information when you use the Urgewave iOS app. It applies only to Urgewave. It does not apply to Puff Log or other TechArm apps, which have their own policies.
1. Summary
Urgewave is built to keep your habit data on your iPhone.
- Urge logs, the apps you choose to pause, gate settings, and related preferences stay on your device.
- We do not operate an account system for Urgewave.
- We do not receive your urge history, sell it, or use it to track you across apps and websites.
- Screen Time selections are handled by Apple’s system APIs; we do not see the names of the apps you pick.
- Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit.
2. Who we are
Urgewave is published by Tech Arm Softwares Inc.
For privacy questions, email info@techarm.ca.
3. What Urgewave does
Urgewave is a habit-support tool. You can pause apps you choose (via Apple Screen Time / Family Controls), notice an urge, ride a short “wave,” and decide whether to let it pass or open the app for a limited unlock. Optional features may include longer waves, more selections, and strict hours for people on Urgewave Pro.
Urgewave is for general wellness and habit support. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not parental controls or a monitoring tool for someone else’s device.
4. Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use the app, Urgewave may store on your iPhone (and related App Group storage on that same device):
| Category | Examples | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Urge / habit log | Labels, intensity ratings, outcomes (rode out vs opened), timestamps | No — stays on device |
| Gate settings | Surf length, unlock preferences, strict-hour windows, gate on/off | No — stays on device |
| Screen Time tokens | Family Controls / Managed Settings tokens for apps, categories, or sites you select | No — Apple keeps these on device; we do not receive app names |
| Local notifications | Pending “wave ready” style notifications you allow | Handled by iOS on your device |
| Purchase entitlement | Whether Urgewave Pro is active (read via StoreKit on device) | Apple bills; we do not run our own purchase server |
Uninstalling Urgewave removes app data stored for Urgewave on that device (subject to how iOS handles backups you make yourself).
5. Information we do not collect
For Urgewave, we do not:
- Create or require a TechArm account, email signup, or password for the core gate experience
- Upload urge logs to TechArm servers
- Use an advertising identifier or sell advertising based on your Urgewave use
- Track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising
- Collect precise location for Urgewave features
- Access your contacts, photos, microphone, or Health app data for Urgewave
If Apple’s App Store privacy labels for Urgewave list “Data Not Collected,” that reflects this on-device design. Practices can change only if we update this policy and the product; we will not claim on-device-only storage while operating a server that receives your urge log.
6. Screen Time and system permissions
Urgewave uses Apple Family Controls, Managed Settings, and related Screen Time APIs so you can pause apps on your phone.
- You approve access through the system Screen Time / Family Controls prompt.
- Apple keeps selection tokens on the device. We do not receive a list of the app names you selected.
- Shield / monitor extensions that ship with Urgewave run on your device as part of that system pipeline.
- Notifications (if you allow them) are used so a “Surf it” handoff can open Urgewave after the paused app closes — a local notification, not a push from our servers.
You can revoke Screen Time-related access and notification permission in iOS Settings.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
Urgewave Pro (when offered) is sold as an in-app purchase or subscription through the Apple App Store. Apple processes payment and may apply Apple’s privacy practices to the transaction.
We read entitlement status on the device via StoreKit so the app can unlock Pro features. We do not operate a separate Urgewave account that stores your full purchase history on TechArm servers.
Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or as Apple documents for your iOS version).
8. Analytics and crash data
Urgewave is designed without a third-party analytics SDK for urge content. We do not upload your urge labels or intensity scores.
If Apple provides aggregated, anonymized App Store or performance metrics to developers (for example, download counts or crash reports you opt into through Apple), those are governed by Apple’s terms and tools, not by a custom Urgewave tracking profile we build from your urge log.
9. Children
Urgewave is intended for adults who want habit support for their own phone use. It is not directed at children. Do not use Urgewave to supervise or control a child’s device. Family Controls here are for self-control on your own device, not parental monitoring.
10. Third-party services
| Service | Role |
|---|---|
| Apple (App Store, StoreKit, Screen Time / Family Controls, iOS notifications) | Platform APIs and billing you interact with under Apple’s terms and privacy policy |
Opening links to other TechArm apps (for example from “Our Other Apps”) takes you to the App Store or those apps’ own experiences, which have separate policies.
11. Data security
Because urge data stays on your device, protection relies on your iPhone’s lock, passcode/biometrics, OS updates, and any backups you choose to make (for example iCloud Backup of your device). We do not maintain a Urgewave urge database on our servers to “secure” or “sync.”
12. Your choices
- Turn the gate off or clear selections in Urgewave settings.
- Revoke Screen Time / notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Restore or manage purchases through Apple.
- Delete the app to remove Urgewave’s on-device data (plus any residual OS caches Apple retains briefly).
- Email info@techarm.ca with privacy questions.
13. International users
Urgewave is offered through the App Store. Processing of App Store transactions follows Apple’s systems. On-device storage remains on the device where you install the app.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the product or law requires it. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page (https://techarm.ca/urgewave/privacy.html) and, where appropriate, in the app.
